All the responses on this thread are just full of USEFUL information.  The
recent emergence of white hairs does strongly point in the direction of a
saddle that no longer fits properly.  For anyone who might experience the
same symptoms, but only every once in a while, don't forget the possibility
of your horse just not feeling great on any given day.  As Chris said, they
can be very stoic but even a horse can have a headache or digestive upset.
  If going 50 miles with a migraine or gas pains doesn't sound like fun,
think how miserable our horses feel when we ask THEM to do that.
