Very interesting analogy, Julie! I'm sure Bode's perspective rings true for many participants and much of the media, and there's lots to be said for the effort it takes to be an Olympic champion. But then there's the whole cheering for the underdog thing ....
Personally, I love the Jamaican bobsled team :-)

Was the Jamaican bobsled any less than a winner? They worked to overcome great obstacles just to get there. Interesting enough when we took two sandhill and swamp horses from FL to the ROC in 1996 - we adopted as our mentors the Jamaican bobsled team. By just getting there and beating the trail - we considered our horses true winners.
Below is a quote from Wade Boggs from his speech last year when he was inducted to the baseball hall of fame. Boggs was one of baseballs greatest third basemen - but what made him even greater was the attitude he brought to life.

"Life is about obstacles. Endeavors in life are not to be overlooked. Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but how we react to what happens. Not by what life brings us, but the attitude we bring to life." - Wade Boggs, on his induction to the baseball hall of fame.
