Diseases that can be directly spread to humans from horses: Rabies Salmonella, giardia & other intestinal problems Anthrax Leptospirosis Ringworm Hendra virus (Australia) Brucellosis Staph infections

Diseases that horses can give to humans through vectors (mosquitos, etc):
Encephalitis (including West Nile Virus, VEE)

I"m sure there's others, but that's what I found right away with a quick Google. I am not sure, but vasicular stomatitis may be something a human could get, and maybe strangles?
