[RC] easyboot bares - lisa oberteuffer

so ... does anyone have any advice for getting these things ON?

I can't get my horse NOT to stand on the heel strap--at least, I'm pretty sure he's standing on the heel strap because 1) he's giving me the wicked ears and 2) I can't pull out the pullstrap. but I'm not actually sure, because I can't see or feel or get any sense of where the heel strap actually IS. the boots are that tight.

so help! I'm quite frustrated, after spending $200+ on these ... the regular dance of jumping off, looking for, and replacing one of my regular, old, pre-2005 easyboots is starting to look better and better.

I'm in the mood to grump, but the boot material seems a lot harder-- and more brittle? the heel strap likewise--not very flexible. and made in china? what's up with that?

anyway ... venting ... but I would appreciate any help. I have read almost all of karen's fantastic easyboot page, so I have tried the tips there. does the rubber mallet actually work, to bang his toe all the way in? and do I really want boots I have to do that to?

sigh ... off to ride TRULY barefoot, I guess, since I can't get the damn things to work and don't feel like laming my horse while testing ...
