[RC] drugs and riding - Michael Maul

In response to "Why are we talking about this"

Well in my case I responded to the "bait" Bob Morris put out for different topics. My bet is he's chuckling every time he sees a post on this topic.

I personally try to ride without much in the way of NSAIDs or any other medication but that's just me. I certainly don't expect anyone else to follow this. Many people are able to ride who would not be able to do so if they didn't use them. When I ruptured my left biceps - I used NSAIDs to ride.

I take Glucosamine daily along with a number of vitamins and that seems to get me thru rides OK. As I age - perhaps I'll need NSAIDs more. If so - I'll certainly take them to continue riding, working out, playing racquetball, and the other physical things I do in life.

I looked through the WADA list and I'm amazed at the items prohibited. Why anyone would consider taking strychnine is beyond me. And it had never occurred to me that beta blockers would help in Bridge...

For those who don't consider a NSAID a drug - note what the "D" letter represents in the abbreviation.

Mike
