From reading the description again, I am not sure this is a long term 
commitment to such a ride but rather a one time shot. If it's not a long 
term commitment with real entrance criteria one wonders why it is being 
done?

I think such a ride would fill a void in the sport that the ROC left. 
However, it is a significant commitment for one person (personal and 
financial) to take on. If it is going to be an ongoing event - some sort 
of actual nomination criteria needs to be established. Given the decline 
in the 100's ridden since the last ROC I doubt if the ROC criteria would 
be realistic but surly more than the current AERC NC criteria would be 
desirable.
