Assuming you were serious (which I don't think you were) I say this does not work for two reasons.


1) Dead weight is harder to carry then the live weight of the rider because the rider controls the distribution of their weight. Therefore, a horse carrying a 150 lb rider will have less of a challenge, than a horse carrying 100 lbs of rider and 50 lbs of dead weight. You can also assume that the horse carrying the 150 lb rider is used to carrying that weight, where as a horse who conditiioned with a lighter rider would not be used to carrying the extra weight.

2) You assume that every horse competing is capable of carrying the same weight with the same level of performance impact. Given the variety of breeds, sizes, etc. I think this is an incorrect assumption.
