Last time I checked the manufacturers replacement after a fall only extended 5 years. After that you needed a new helmet. We save our old ones and stash them in various places (campers, trailers, tack rooms) we then can use them for forgotten ones etc. A couple of times friends "forgot" the helmets we had convinced them to purchase. We brought out a spare. Since the spares are not new and pretty, they remembered their helmets the next time.
