[RC] Barbaro . . . - Missy Whitmire

Just read all the insights to the Barbaro saga.  I thought after it happened that maybe he hurt his front knees blasting through the gates before they were opened, then had to put more weight on his back legs because of the pain in front (yes, I remember the endurance vets preaching very well).  I didn't know he was stepped on by another horse. . . oh so very sad!!

If you  want to talk heat, come to the Carolina lowcountry and ride awhile.  The horses are sweating, just standing around in the field.  But the woods here are nice and somewhat cooler, and the trails are flat, no climbing involved.  Some riding does get done on the weekends, but it's slow, with not many miles involved.  We spend alot of time talking about fly spray, and which works best, and the best cold drink on a hot sunny afternoon (beer, or water first, then beer?)
