It's easier. If they drop you've got more room.

I have a mare because the entire process grosses me out, but I ended up with 2 geldigns being added to the family and I've gotten over it and started cleaning sheaths.

OB Gloves are WONDERFUL for sheath cleaning, the shorter ones aren't long enough if they won't drop.
