They don’t….if you don’t mind sticking your arm in there up to the elbow. A horse actually has a “sheath within a sheath”. With a little practice, you can scratch them gently right in front of the sheath…..this will usually get them to drop.  Grab his tool with one hand then pop the bean out with the other before he knows what has happened. J

Okay, still don't get it.....why do they have to drop first for you to go poking around up in there looking for beans?
