Re: [RC] [RC] [Guest] Underage horses - for ride managers and mentors - Debbie Kirchner

what is the Age??? I have a 2 year old MFT/Morgan Cross, who I will not train to saddle until she is 4, it amazes me how many people still start thier horses at 2, I was looking at MFT's yesterday, and most of them were babies, 3-4-5 and ready to go, trained for people 8-80, I was sick... those backs are still forming... I know it is hard to wait and expensive, but man it just does not make sense to me.. .

I also have a 7 year old Morgan I am selling, long story, Hubby thought he was going to work last summer for him, rode him 2 x's realized he was GREEN as GREEN, da... he had not been ridden but a half dozen times as a 4 and 5 year old, what did he expect???? Anyway, I took him over, what a great horse he is going to be.... and started Late, he still has a great back.. not like so many who are started to young....

But the point is, my 7 year old is not a total Been there done that boy, he is just now to the point of Maturity where he thinks and listens with an adult brain... he is so strong this year, and Muscled so nice... Waiting for them to grow up is so smart, I am glad to hear the endurance people have a minimum age, now, please enlighten me and let me know what it is...

thank you

Debbie
