RE: [RC] [RC] Question about mares - Juli Jakub

This is so funny! I am going through the exact same thing although my girl is a little younger at 4. I brought my old eventer home to rehab her...she ended up in a bad situation, different story. Well since Daisy has got here Be is giving me the cold shoulder, being an absolute jerk in ground work, and being difficult however she can. She has always been so attached to me and was the easiest baby to train up until now...now it is rear, buck, strike, shake the head, if I want left, she goes right!! At first I could not figure out what was happening...but I truly think it has to do with Daisy and the attention I give her. Be is use to being the only princess in the barn!! When my husband asked I told him the only thing I could think of was that she was going through some teenage moments! Daisy is here to stay however so I guess she'll have to get over it! At least her antics don't faze me...I have trained harder cases than a spoiled baby having a tantrum!

So, my question is, do mares go through a "teenage girl" period when they turn 6? One way or another the gelding is leaving, either going home or he's going to be bought so I'm hoping to get my girl back.
