Cattle are not run on public land in much of the East.  No cattle - no 
need for fences and gates. I've ridden rides (out west) were you had to 
mess with gates - makes me glad we don't have them back here. As far as 
cattle they are run on private land and during the spring and summer you 
can run a cow per acre. In the fall you take them to market and cull out 
your herd.
