[RC] Gates (was pet peeves) - Jonni

years. :-) I did get to see one and actually watch it be opened and closed
when riding with Dr. Q. I was totally fascinated. <<<

You must not have many cattle in your area Angie! Out west, the gates are
often wire cowboy gates. If you have a ride with those, and Dave Rabe is
riding, ride with him. He seems to love to open gates, and then do one of
his famous running / flying mounts. Our local trails in the LBJ Grasslands ,
Home of Frigid Digit and TX Bluebonnet rides has a total of about 30 (I'm
guessing) horse gates through out the trail system. No need to dismount on
these gates. BUT, during the endurance rides, we get permission to usually
leave them open so riders don't need to deal with them.

Here is a photo of our horse friendly gates. Chain latch easy to reach while
mounted.
