no need to walk on eggshells; in fact, speaking up can keep you safe - but the above words are very true and must go both ways. Unfortunately, endurance as with most sports is a microcosm of life and there ARE rude people everywhere. One difference is that the rude woman who is in front of me in line at the market and is holding up the line because she can't write a check whilst on her CELL PHONE - she won't get me hurt or killed.
 
Politeness, manners, common sense and courtesy become much bigger issues whilst on our magnificent creatures out in the middle of nowhere. The things above have not disappeared - they are just couched in more caution than we remember.
