[RC] paso bosal - Amy Martin

Is anyone out there competing in a paso fino bosal type set up, with
noseband and curb strap? I have been riding my paso fino in the Hank bit
(combo rawhide nose band which reins attach to and snaffle bit) that she
came with but have recently been wanting to try out traditional tack. She
rides great in a bosal at home and understands very well the signals for
turning and sidepassing and such in it but was wondering how they were for
brakes in a ride. She is a sensitive horse and stops quickly to it at home
but haven't tried it out and about yet. I see also there are all different
types of nose bands from plain leather to rawhide to studded to chained but
am having trouble finding a resource that discusses the pros and cons of
each.

Thanks, Amy
