==========================================

The first few rides we participated in my mare had a tendency to canter rather
than trot.(We were participating in CTR's in a group of about four or five
horses and it was important for her to stay part of the group.) I know exactly
where she learned the "big trot". She started to go into the canter when the
rest of the group was trotting and all of a sudden she went into the extended
trot. From that time on she preferred the trot, but she had to learn it. We
canter occasionally for variety or when we are trying to make up time but her
gait of choice is now the trot...it wasn't when she started.
