Re: [RC] Skito Dryback Pad? - Truman Prevatt

I was trying the dryback. The supracor works well to dissipate heat. However, the supracor doesn't have sufficient curvature for a lot of high withered horses either. I have been riding a panel saddle for years and I simply use the panel booties. However, the supracor doesn't have sufficient curvature for a lot of high withered horses either. That allows for air flow under the saddle.

On my old mare who I rode with an pretty typical endurance style saddle, I used a woolback pad.

Truman,

As someone who wants to head south at some point to do some rides, what do you recommend as a pad that would be cooler? We don't really have much of a heat problem up here in the NW. If it is hot, it is also dry, so a lot of drenching solves any potential heat problem even with my VERY black horse.

AND, were you using a dryback or a regular skito?

Bill,

I tried on on my high withered horse. I worked its way down and put pressure on the wither. I would not recommend it on a high withered horse. It also seemed to ride hot. I wouldn't use it in our normal hot and himid riding conditions in the SE.

Has anyone had experience with a Skito Dryback Pad that they would be willing to share? I'm considering buying one, but would like to get input from people who have used them. I'm particularly wanting to know if the pad rubs the hair off the horse's loins. I'd appreciate anyone's information. Many thanks.
Bill
