Re: [RC] Meatless Black Bean Chilli - Margaret Dinan

Morningstar Farms is the brand and Crumblers are the name of the product.  They are soy protein hamburger /meat substitute bits that come frozen in a bag.  You can also use any other soy protein hamburger substitute.  Sometimes other manufacturers put the stuff in a sausage-like roll.  The actual amount that you need to make the chili is about 2 cups if you can't find the measured bag of Crumblers.

This chili is SO good that even meateaters like it and can't tell the difference!  It is very simple and only takes minutes to prepare:

2 cans black beans (15.5 oz cans)
2 cans tomato sauce (8 oz. cans)
1 package Morningstar Farms Crumblers
1 cup or 1 small jar chunky salsa
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
dash of cayenne pepper
garlic powder to taste (I use about 1/4-1/2 tsp)

Drain one can of beans. Add to a large saucepan and mash the beans.  Add the second can of beans with the liquid and do not mash.  Add both cans of tomato sauce, the salsa, Crumblers, and seasonings.  There is no need to thaw the Crumblers.  Stir to blend. Cook over medium heat until heated through.
