RE: [RC] [RC] Unsupportive spouses - Mel Cochran

Well, you go girl!

I can't say that I like any of the horsey guys I have met. They are all the type who would tell me how and what to do with my horses...and that is worse than a non-horsey type. I can hear it now "you need to sell them crazy horses you got and buy a nice QH or Paint" I tried dating a couple of those types and realized that my best bet was to find a guy who would let me be a horse individual - and could possibly learn to enjoy horses with me.

Hubby is a very good hearted person and would never use the horses as leverage, just doesn't understand some of the things that horses need and that horses can be part of a family.

I was married to the epitome of unsupportive. He used the horses as
leverage over me, threatening to tie them up on the main road if I
wasn't at his beck and call 24/7. He used to crap on me at shows if I
didn't win, tell me to quit riding if I got nervous. Basically he was
an a-hole and would have been an a-hole o my chosen sport was
tiddlywinks.

I started an incredibly steamy affair with a guy I met in a tack shop
(I'm such a hussy), left my husband, am currently married to aforesaid
Tack Shop chap, have a child by him and am absolutely, blissfully happy.
He understands why it's perfectly acceptable to buy a new saddle when
you can't afford to pay the bond, why it's normal to sit up 24/7 with a
sick horse, just how much a good ride means, and how a bad ride can ruin
your whole day. He understands show nerves, and that winnign isn't
everything when you're bringing on a baby.

Best of all.he REALLY knows how to fill out a pair of jodhpurs.

Regards,
Tracey
