Fw: [RC] trot/canter,visual aids - Dot Wiggins

Some really smart horses, both nice and some not so nice, get bored quickly in arena situations. They see no need for what ever maneuvers we are asking them to do and tend to get resentful.
Some "outside" work, giving clear reasons for going over, through, around things, makes it easier for them to "get it",and are usaully much better when getting back "inside".

I have no wish to ride for miles and hours with my horse "in my hands" so to speak. I want to point him where we need to go, down the trail or cross country, at my choice of speed, and let the horse take care of the details.
The good ones are very clever at picking the best way.

Because you are using the visual guide of the trail to aid the horse in
the direction, transition, and correct diagonal/lead. He can see where
he's supposed to go and the direction he's supposed to bend.

To correctly *ride* the horse he should be on *your* aids not the
trails.
