Re: [RC] Which horse to buy? - Simrat Khalsa

I think the same about my Spanish Mustang mare, if I ever get time to get her in shape. She hops right in the trailer on the way to the ride, but doesn't want to get in to go home! I am a bit dumbfounded by this, but it is very consistent now on the last 4 times we have gotten rides out with friends. (I don't have my own trailer) She is not afraid, or upset, just doesn't want to get in. It is a bit embarrassing when my usually obedient mare shows me up by not listening and taking 10-20 minutes to load.

Am I reading too much into this to think that she wants to stay? If I had my own truck/trailer, I would go spend the day out riding and then see if she was ready to load up for home. Our trailered out rides so far have been 1.5 to 2 hours.

I'm thinking my young Arab mare I'm fitting up will be a multi day horse. I've never before had a horse who loves to be ridden so much! No matter how much we've done, if I go out in the field with a bridle, she comes right up to me and wants to go again!
