Simple economics. Hmmmm... Actually, IAHA & AHR (now AHA) started this themselves. They have pretty much always had higher prices for everything from showing to membership dues to registration fees vs AQHA, and miracle of miracle membership and participation dropped. AQHA kept their fees low and membership & participation went up.
