Re: [RC] selling horses - Kari Hanes

Nicki,
We are also having a similar problem. We have a very nice mare who is green and we state she is green in every ad and also have "needs experienced rider". She is in the same price range as yours. I have had parents call and tell me their son/daughter can handle a green horse, after all they have been taking lessons for over a year - or - my child really knows their stuff, they've been working at a professional barn the last 6 months, etc., etc! How do you respond to that? I've flat out refused to sell the horse to a few people and they seem so offended. I hate to be blunt with folks - but this is not a horse for a child. She may be with a few months of serious training, unfortunately I just don't have the time to do it.

Today I had a very nice gentleman call and we talked for a long time - finally I had someone who understood this horse was going to need some training before a child could ride her. I don't know if the sale is going to happen or not, but it was a breath of fresh air to speak with someone who had some horse sense.

Just keep in mind that the right people will eventually come along and your horse will find the forever home it deserves, it may take a while, but it will happen.
