[RC] WEC:1-25 Lucie's Notes - Lucie Hess

Any errors in name spelling or getting some details mixed up are due to communication glitches.

I have had the good fortune to meet and talk with several teams this morning.  I first met Mitsuka Masui who is grooming for her sister Hisayo Masui.  Mitsuka was very gracious in giving me her time.  Her task is caring for her sister, other team crew members will care for the horse.
Hisayo, is an accomplished Endurance rider, competition in France and Australia, she also competed in the Tevis in 2001.

She has been interested in Horses since she was in the University. I believe she is the Japanese lady who was featured in the Japanese video of the 2001 Tevis.  She is currently publishing a book on Endurance.  She is leasing her horse Fax of Sky from France, she has her own horse at home in Hokkaido, Japan.

She is employed as a director of the Yokohama City Zoo.   She is the first woman to be named such.

Regarding the race, her sister reports Hisayo wants to do well, as the younger brother of the royal family has come to Dubai and presented her with a "Lucky Charm".   She will do her best to make him proud.

I next spoke with the Poland Chef'd equipe (the Team leader) Dr. Wojtek is a vet and works as an equine specialist in Poland.  The Polish team consists of 4 men.  The youngest 19 and the oldest almost 50.  The horses are all Polish bred Arabians.  The horses have done well with the shipping and are looking good.  Dr. Wojtek states that Endurance riding is just beginning to take off in Poland.  It doesn't have a lot of Government support as do the other equestrian disciplines, but it is moving forward.  He is looking forward to a good race.
