[RC] Meniscus Muscle--Horse - Val Nicoson

Anyone have any experience with problems of the
Meniscus muscle (or is this a ligament) on a horse?
The one that's sore on my horse is on the outside of
her hind leg.
Took her to an equine center today to have ultrasound
done on her leg for a lameness she hasn't recovered
very well from (been 6 weeks at least). The vet
thought it'd be bone problem and did several x-rays
(nothing found) and then did ultrasound. Horse wasn't
a very good patient (wanted her leg left alone) and
had to be drugged. Apparently she still "felt"
something from the ultrasound even while drugged when
the vet tried to ultrasound her the outer section of
her leg in the meniscus area.
She felt like she had stepped in a hole with her right
rear leg several weeks ago but there was no hole.
The vet believes she got hung up on her stifle.
She is now on stall rest per the vet, Adequan shots
once a week for a month and Bute 2x/day. The Bute
will be lessened if weekly improvements are noted.
She is allowed to be handwalked daily.
Any suggestions? Is this a recoverable injury to
where she can do LD rides again?
Thanks for your support,
Val + Sania
