[RC] mounting - Jonni

Using a mounting block etc. is not cheating Barbara. It is actually good
horsemanship. The easier you can make it on your horse when you climb
aboard, the better. I need to remember to mount from the horses right side
once and awhile, to balance things out. If you ride with an english saddle,
and leather stirrup leathers, make sure the one you use most to get on, has
not stretched. It can happen with most saddles, but more often with english
leathers. If they stretch much, you can actually start riding out of
balance.

Also, use a mounting block, a rock, a log, a bank or put the horse on the
downhill side from you. I have trouble mounting and I use an English
saddle, but I cheat with any of the above techniques. No trouble at all
getting on the horse if I "cheat."
