Generally this is true - not always - but certainly indicates a higher level of importance put on the horses going the longer distances... At many rides here in the NW we do try to get 50 milers through the vet check and sometimes will give priority to a 25 mile completion exam. We try to keep the people who are continuing the ride moving through the system, but when I do traffic at a vet check also try not to let any of the LD wait to long, they have worked hard as well and get my respect for doing so. This is really the only time that I have noticed a preferance given to longer distances as compaired to LD. I have ridden both and never felt that I was treated as a lesser rider.
