Re: [RC] [RC] help a newbie with overnight camping - Kathy Ramspott

Marta,
Just a warning. I did this once and every time my horse would doze off and drop his head then lift it again it would pull the trailer oh so slightly. I couldn't sleep very soundly so I woke up pretty much any time the horse moved. I decided that that wasn't the best way to go so I now, the very few times I've camped since, use a electric coral. I guess If I had unhooked from the truck and anchored maybe it wouldn't have so easily moved? I don't know.

suzi,
i didn't even think of this. thanks! my mare ties well to the trailer so that wouldn't be an issue. this sounds simpler than setting up a tent.
how short do you tie your horse? my mare doesn't panick when she steps on a leadline but i wouldn't want to take a chance with her being 'stuck' all night while i was sleeping...
