I have one
horse that does very well with the Toklat Woolback (thin, breathable,
lightweight) pad, and another horse that uses the Toklat Coolback & they're
both happy with them (at least we'e never detected any soreness) The Coolback
pad (referred to as the Cookback by some who aren't as happy with it) is a
triple thick, as the mare I use it on has a very slight dip in her back &
the thickness of the pad keeps her comfortable.

I've
got a question...I have a western style endurance saddle on order from Dave
Genadek (www.aboutthehorse.com). He
recommends a plain ol' navajo blanket for his saddles if they fit
perfectly (he uses a felt pad w/shims if necessary to fine-tune a fit).
The tree fits my horse like a glove so no shimming is needed. Does anyone out
there use a plain navajo blanket for distance riding? I'm a little worried
about the wrinkles/creases it seems they can get in them. Is that a
hypothetical worry or a possible true problem? Any other suggestions for
a VERY thin very light very breathable natural fiber blanket/pad? Kristi
