Respectfully, I very much doubt your observation extends to more than one vet. Since I ride in the same region as you, having hired vets for 7 rides and evaluating their performance to decide whether to invite them back, I rather take issue with the inference that this region tolerates vetting of this manner.

My experience is that PS endurance vets are collaborative and of course their procedure favors the aware rider while providing the new rider a fairly consistent framework to gain their own experience.

They feel the tendons WHILE the horses's trot? They must be fast ;).

I'm not saying that they can't see a big lameness on a straight trot, THREE horses at a time, but we both know that a very slight lameness will not show up on a straight trot (even if its one horse trotting at a time). For people who don't do their own lameness exams (watch their horse trot in a circle) and just rely on ride vets to tell them their horse is sound, they're missing a big piece of the picture and I'm sure most ride vets would TELL them that.
