Is there more stress even when the 4WD is not engaged?

Can't compare because I've always driven Chevys/GMCs. I've never had tire problems with either and gotten quite a few miles out of my tires. I drive on pretty horrendous dirt/rock/potholed roads too.

I'm a diehard Ford girl, but I can't ignore the praise I am seeing for the Chevy Allison, especially since my left knee is begging to be free of my heavy duty clutch. Is there anyone out there with significant experience with both who could speak to the biggest differences? And what about tire wear .... big 4X4 Fords are notorious for eating up the right front tire ... what about the Chevys??

4WD puts more stress on the front tires - especially the right one. It's just the nature of the beast. That being said my F350 DRW 4x4 seems to be okay with tire ware. The 2WD 350 DRW I had before the current truck did very well on tire wear.
