Re: [RC] what to do with the old horse - Dyane Smith

Title: Message
Good post, Rae.  How lucky to have your horse until he was 37.

My Old Man, Jerobim, was 37 when he finally decided it was time (he stopped eating).  We didn't even retire him from riding until he was 33.  I just can't conceive of dumping a horse just because he's getting older.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that had this reaction. My guy is almost 21. He has a home for life. I'd never dream of sending him off either. It's bad enough that he'll go MUCH sooner than I'd like!

My first Arabian turned 30 just now:). We have been together for 25 years. I wouldn't DREAM of expressing how i feel about her by sending her off ANYWHERE thinking she would like it better. She is my pride and joy. She gets what she neesd and wants until the day she dies - which is likely not too many weeks and months away.
