Re: [RC] [RC] what to do with the old horse - RHONDA LEVINSON

I have an Arabian mare who is 35 this year. Until two years ago, she was the fastest horse on the place (out of 15 horses, including a race bred Paint, and other Arabs). If you put an English saddle on her, she's put all of her weight on her back legs, snap up those front legs, and MOVE OUT in this huge English trot.

From the time the mare was 28 until she was 33, she was my small daughter's
riding horse (as long as the mare had a Western saddle on -- LOL)! Now, she has a home for the rest of her life. She's still pretty healthy, so I'm hoping that is a long way off.

Also, there's a CTR horse still doing open rides at age 33. The horse in question is NOT old.
