Re: [RC] Heart Murmur - Lynne Glazer

My one-rat report: my stud colt failed his insurance exam at 17 months old due to a heart murmur. I bought an expensive stethoscope ("cardioacoustic") so I could monitor his condition myself, incredulous that a horse of his bloodlines (Remington Steele, double *Serafix, etc--71% CMK) would have such a thing.

Well. He only had a heart murmur when *talking to WIMMEN*! A little brain surgery on the green grass at 18 months took care of that--he still talks, they actually listen, but his heart rhythm has been tres ordinaire ever since.

Gavilan had a slight heart murmur once; his electrolytes had gotten out of
balance. I've monitored it carefully since then and it hasn't reoccurred. I
still check for it consistently.
