A endurance riding friend, Stacy, had a wonderful gelding, Porter, who had
occasional heart murmurs... Stacy was the worlds most conscientious rider,
going way out of her way to ride with Porters safety in mind, yet he had a
heart attack the morning after her successful completion of a 50 mile ride.

Gavilan had a slight heart murmur once; his electrolytes had gotten out of
balance. I've monitored it carefully since then and it hasn't reoccurred. I
still check for it consistently.

Do you mean you personally check it consistently or have a vet out? If you do do you just use a stethescope? What does a horse heart murmur sound like if any of us wanted to check for it I guess is what I'm really asking.
