There is a big difference - the professional athlete gets a very nice salary plus maybe incentives with the contract. If the USEF is willing to fork out maybe a million buck with the contract - I'm sure there would be a lot of people interested in FEI in this country.

Doesn't sound any less reasonable than a pro ball player having to sign a contract to play for the team for the whole season...
