[RC] Wildlife encounters - ALYCIN HAYES

My American Indian Horse and I have traveled over USA and Canada and have encountered all kinds of wildlife. Generally wildlife is less or not afraid of one on horseback so one tends to see allot if riding in a wild area.
In Florida cantering along a trail my mare swerved sharply to the left and I almost went over her head which would have landed me directly on the large Cottonmouth snake in front of us she was attempting to avoid. Fortunately I stayed in the saddle.
Most wildlife encounters are rewarding although I am a little nervous when we run into a pack of big red wild hogs. Herds of deer will come out to see us. We once found a new born fawn cashed under a bush.
We have also seen red fox, bob cat, garter snakes, mild snakes, diamondback rattlesnakes, pigmy rattlesnakes, black racers, coyote, porcupine, skunk, possum, raccoon, box turtles, gopher tortoise, large alligators, herons, wild turkey, egrets, swans, Canada geese, bald eagles, cranes, vultures, and once a Florida Panther.
Sighting wildlife is one of the more wonderful aspects of horseback/endurance riding.
Let's keep it wild,
Alycin
