So the exit CRI didn't really catch an impending crash - but caught a horse that had become stiff because he stood around too long.

This brings up another issue - is an hour hold really in the best interest the horse particularly when the temps turn cool and stiffening up from the cold is a real concern

It was my fault for not blanketing & walking my horse during the stop. Also, most vets (especially if they know you) will just say "why don't you walk him around a little and see if he warms out of it," rather than just pull you when it's obvious that's all that's happened.
