Re: [RC] re: EXIT CRI - Dabney Finch

That's excellent for a "newbie"! You're right, that's all it was.

It was my fault for not blanketing & walking my horse during the stop. Also, most vets (especially if they know you) will just say "why don't you walk him around a little and see if he warms out of it," rather than just pull you when it's obvious that's all that's happened.

Asking as a *completely* uneducated newbie...

His exit CRI was still great but he'd stiffened
up a little in the hind end during the hour hold. So apparently that is
one thing an exit CRI will catch!

Is that a legitimate "catch"?

I know when I ski, I feel GREAT when I stop for lunch, but after an hour,
I'm starting back at zero -- muscles cold and stiff and needing to be warmed
up slowly all over again. I'm not injured, or even unable to loosen up and
perform at peak level, though it seems harder after lunch than when we first
arrive. For that reason, we usually take snacks and water with us on the
mountain, so we don't have to stop.

Is there any parallel to a horse's performance after an hour hold?

Melissa
