RE: [RC] [RC] weight devision question - David LeBlanc

And I think that's the case with weight divisions, Amber.
They came about because a bunch of men couldn't outride a
bunch of ladies, so they decided to have their own little
party and call it HW.

Oddly enough, you needed more points to hit the top 10 heavyweight in the NW
this year than top 10 middleweight.

I think it's only fair - I couldn't hit the minimum FEI weight even if I
starved myself for 3 months and rode bareback. Weight matters a lot. I
watched my horse pull the best CRIs I've ever seen (44/40)after carrying a
70# junior. It shows up when I BC - even with the weight adjustment, I still
lose on CRI. Of course it also doesn't help that Laser figures that after
the ride is done it is time for a nap, and he doesn't look too flashy at the
1 hour check.

The Aussies do this a little differently than we do, and if I ever manage a
ride, I might do the same - they announce completions by division, then by
overall - obviously both are recorded.

Funny thing--the fit HW guys are right up front with the
skinny ladies...
It's us ladies that OUGHT to be skinnier and aren't that are
the HWs in the back of the pack!

Some days I'm in the front, most days in the back! Sometimes you can learn
something from interesting folks by riding in the back.
