[RC] Tevis Sponsorship - rides2far@xxxxxxxx

People are asking "What did the UAE sponsors have to sell?" I really doubt that
any amount of exposure at the Tevis would bring them $35,000 worth of business
at their facility. You also mentioned that they are sponsoring Steph's ride. It
seems to me that their focus on the international level is to encourage
participation in FEI and CEI events (feel free to correct me if I use the wrong
terminology or initials.) It is expensive to put on these events but they are
necessary to make the overall world wide competition legitiment. Makes perfect
sense to me for them to be interested in backing these events to put out some
money to encourage more USA rides to be FEI rides.

So...back to Tevis...Tevis is World Famous without FEI or CEI sanctioning. It
gets international competitors without being either, just like it used to do
without AERC sanctioning. Is there any chance that their goal is to eventually
get the WSF to sanction FEI? Just a thought. Not a conspiracy theory, just
wondering. I do Biltmore and it's FEI. I have ridden the FEI at times and at
times have ridden along side them. Didn't affect me that much but from the
complaints from some others afterwards I would guess there would be some
"kicking" from people who waited so long to get AERC sanctioning for fear
someone would tell them what to do. Am I close or in left field?

Angie
