[RC] Jiggy on the Trail - Update - Jan Rainey

Jiggy on the trail - Update...

Took my mare back to Marshall Canyon this morning.... took the same route as
Saturday, (when she was so jiggy) and wouldn't you know it... she was really
good. A couple times wanting to jog uphills, so we stopped & flexed or softly
backed, and I practised stopping with just the leadrope.... she was good.
Anyways, I checked her saddle pad & saddle fit again, and changed her back to a
augerian silver snaffle D-ring bit, made sure she had lots of bug repellant on
(the bugs can be really nasty up there).... I guess it's more of a
mind-control thing, cuz I know she is WAY fitter than I will ever be! So, the
only thing I can think of is, it must be the "herd" mentality... she bonds with
whomever we are riding with, and suddenly it is more important to stay WITH the
herd than to listen to me?

(and yes, this jiggy issue is when we are in the middle or back of a line of
horses. In front, she just goes into her "power walk" mode... no jigging)

sigh, J
