I still expect him to take off flairs and a rasp good roll if barefoot, just don't rasp up the hoof wall to the coronet band. It seemed to be an exercise in cosmetics without any functional purpose. I think a trim balanced hoof, with a deep mustang roll is as pretty as my guys need to be.That said, when he does need to rasp higher to remove flairs or on the occasion that we need shoes to allow the hooves to grow out a bit he still puts the "paint" on to prevent drying. You will get no argument from me about any of the things you said. However, I still contend that there are some farriers, who should be punished by being made to wear shoes two letters two narrow for them, who just nail a somewhat right sized shoe on and then get out the rasp.
