Then why do we have the AERC?  What is it's purpose?  Just to tabulate
points?  Do our horses just say "Hey, let's meet at Devil's Thumb, run along
cliffs, cross a river and race 50 miles to Auburn tomorrow?"!! Who sets the
stage for these events?  That organization needs to take some responsibility
for that set up.  Otherwise, why doe

We have AERC to provide the rules for an even playing field, so that we all are competing in the same way, we're all playing the same game. AERC defines what an endurance ride is and how we will compete. It is up to each of us to learn those rules, ride under those rules, and within those rules, to take care of ourselves and our own horses.
