[RC] electric fence - terre

I think the biggest mistake people make (next to not grounding the power source?) is that they make the pens too big. That's the advantage of electric, right?--you can make 'em as big as you have room for. The trouble is that this allows an excited horse to get 'too much speed up'--too much momentum if you will--and that's when they jump or go through. If they only have a stride or two, they rarely break out.

The other thing, as Truman would say if he was talking this week, is to protect your pens on three sides, if possible, so that loose running horses don't see a way through your camp. I unhitch my truck and park it at right angles to the trailer/pen--and if I can have a fenceline, barn, or stand of trees behind me I will.
