Some of the boards in the barn where my guy is stalled were painted with old
motor oil [I think] a while back [to minimize the wood chewing!] and he
developed a *terrible* case of hives. So if you do use any petroleum
products, I would apply it on a test area only at first to make sure they
don't have a bad reaction to it.
