[RC] EPM - oddfarm

I just took in a horse for our SPCA. Aside from having a very swollen sheath,(amateur castration that didn't work) he was very wobbly.

Vet said either EPM or WNV. If it is WNV we are probably through the worst and can only support. If EPM will have 28 days treatment, (forgot the name of medicines) and hope for the best. Vet said no reason for spinal tap, (which I always thought was as barbaric as tube worming) because almost all of Florida horses test positive. The protocol for EPM has changed drastically in the past few years.

We are waiting blood results and hoping for WNV as EPM is still very expensive to treat. No matter what, he will be treated. If it is EPM we should see an improvement almost immediately.

This horse is only 4 years old or so and really deserves a chance. Pray for him. His name is Zeus.
