[RC] I guess I have an endurance horse - Nancy Reed

I had a really fun day today riding in a gymkhana.  Lyric is now 6 and we are taking her to lots of different types of horse activities.  This was our first gymkhana. In between the action we quietly walked around the park, by ourselves. (This was not an option 6 months ago)  Lyric kept walking to the far fence, looking for a way out!  She kept looking at the surrounding hills as if to say ”Hey stupid lets go find the top and get out of here!”  Lyric also found the one hose bib that was not turned off all the way and started to drink from it.  After 4 runs Lyric made it very clear she had had enough of this nonsense and would not go back into the ring and be tortured any more.  I told my husband afterward we surely must have an endurance horse!

Lyric is one of those throw away Arabs breed for the saddle seat show ring.  She was given to my daughter and I when she failed to reach 15 hands and flunked saddle seat school.  Lyric still has issues, but she has told me wants she wants to do when she grows up.  I just hope I can help her become the horse she wants to be.  What an honor it is to be owned by this little grey mare.
